Co-ordinated universal time aeroplane time is the only time we experience which never changes.

The cabin of the aircraft is the only space where we can be certain that we belongwe have a ticket with our name on it. On the seat in front of us there is a map which shows us clearly where we are going.

And we are going forwards.
- San Diego

Vancouver, BC…Studio 58, the nationally renowned professional theatre training program at Langara College, and Rumble Productions proudly present the North American premiere of SAN DIEGO, written by celebrated Scottish playwright David Greig and directed by Norman Armour, on stage from October 6th to 23rd, 2005.

WARNING: Coarse language and mature content.

SAN DIEGO is a lyrical and emotionally charged look at modern society and our universal longing for a sense of home, comfort and belonging. Scottish playwright David Greig weaves together a series of connecting and diverging stories that stretch around the globe into a single compelling narrative of tremendous scope: stories of illegal immigrants, pilots, film stars and escort women, of the making of 'Band on the Run', and of Greig himself.

"David Greig is the most consistently, prolific and artistically ambitious writer of his generation." – The Scotsman

"In a culture obsessed with the quick fix, this is world class theatre. Moved? You will be." – The Glasgow Herald

David Greig has written over 30 plays and was the most produced playwright in the United Kingdom last year. He is the co-founder of Suspect Culture, one of Scotland’s leading theatre companies. SAN DIEGO was originally coproduced by Tron Theatre and the Edinburg International Festival in 2003.

This season represents a milestone for both producing companies - Rumble Productions celebrates 15 years of creating groundbreaking work as Vancouver’s All Terrain Theatre Vehicle and Studio 58 has reached its 40th year as one of Canada’s best theatre training schools.
