"Marie Brassard's Jimmy is bound for fame." Montreal Gazette

Jimmy, a solo play created and performed by award-winning French-Canadian actress Marie Brassard, is made of the stuff of dreams — literally. A fantasy within a fantasy within a fantasy, it explores the shifting boundaries between dream and wakefulness, between real and not real, between theatre and life. This outstanding performance piece is about love, desire and the pleasure of the creative process.

"...fascinating; it mixes poetry, humor and even eroticism in an unbelievebly close and intimate relationship with the audience" – Le Soir

Marie Brassard is best known as a close collaborator of Quebeçois director Robert Lepage, with whom she co-authored and performed in Le Polygraphe, The Dragons' Trilogy, The Seven Streams of the River Ota and Geometry of Miracles, among others. She created her first solo play, Jimmy, for the Festival de théâtre des Amériques in 2001 where it was acclaimed as one of the most powerful Canadian works to come along in many years. More recently, Jimmy has been earning rave reviews and ecstatic audience response on its international tour that has included Dublin, Glasgow, Berlin and Los Angeles.

...masterfully acted and supremely well stage creation...” – Ian Kilroy, Irish Times

What happens to the fantasies that haunt us in our sleep? Do the people we dream of exist in another world? Live on in somebody else's thoughts? Inhabit somebody else's dreams? A leader in a new wave of nervy, unabashedly original theatre auteurs from Canada, Marie Brassard delves into the erotic subconscious to create Jimmy, Créature de rêve (French title) — an outrageous figment of your wildest imagination. Marie Brassard is a master of metamorphosis–slipping beneath the skin of startling gallery of characters with stunning ease and dazzling artistry. Her latest work takes us on a provocative journey to the subconscious realm of forbidden desire.
