Imagine a man who had a best friend
Imagine being obsessed by goodness
Imagine words failing and giving over to the senses
Imagine an inmate's imagination
Rumble Productions in collaboration with Studio 58 present Blueprints for Disaster, an evening of four solo works by a new generation of Vancouver theatre-makers. One Good thing, Saving Little Lizarb, Thousand Mile Stare and What Way Are You, are all original works of recent graduates of Langara College's Studio 58, one of Canada's finest theatre training institutions. Under the umbrella title Blueprints for Disaster, Creator-Performers Scott Fee, Matthew Hunt, Erin Monahan and Erin Wells are joined by Lighting Designer Shane Droucker, Dramaturg Adrienne Wong and Stage Manager Nicoleigh Barnett.
Blueprints for Disaster is a bold, inventive and dynamic evening of theatre. While One Good Thing exposes the nightmare of a man who loves his mother to death, Saving Little Lizarb is a multi-layered movie that comes to life and recreates the dark and thrilling tale of a man and his dog. Thousand Mile Stare is a story about the friendship between a long term inmate and a young woman who begins to see the world through a convict's eyes. What Way Are You combines movement, text and lighting to illuminate and frame the regions of a woman's love - lost and found.
Rumble Productions, Vancouver's all terrain theatre vehicle, and Studio 58, once again join forces following their Jessie Richardson Award-winning collaboration on War of the Worlds. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Rumble Productions has garnered praise for creating challenging new theatre, while fostering the innovations of artists with whom they share a vision. Studio 58 is a unique, hands-on training program that has been preparing students for careers in professional theatre, film and television since 1965.
